Lee Roy Selmon’s Grand Opening in Carrollwood

Lee Roy Selmon’s family of restaurants will be opening in Carrollwood today, December 5th  at 14457 N Dale Mabry Hwy in Tampa. As part of pre opening events, the restaurant last night gave back to a special cause during an exclusive dinner to benefit the University of South Florida’s Mentoring U Selmon Style. A program that assists University of South Florida student-athletes in recognizing and reaching their potential by seeking mentorship and support from professional experts and leaders. As a part of the charity night Lee Roy Selmon’s honored several local sports legends who encompass some of the qualities that Lee Roy Selmon embodied with the unveiling of a signature mural at the restaurant. The mural prominentely features Lee Roy Selmon also includes- San Francisco 49ers Owner and philanthropist Eddie DeBartolo; Super Bowl Champion and five-time All-Pro Ronde Barber; WNBA champion and USF Athletics Hall of Famer Wanda Guyton; Three-time World Series Champion Lou Piniella; Two-Time Super Bowl Champion Freddie Solomon; Heisman Trophy winner and No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Vinny Testaverde and legendary Chamberlain High School football coach Billy Turner.

Patio dining, indoor and outdoor lounge areas and a bar area provide additional seating in addition to the main restaurant seating section at the newest Lee Roy Selmon’s.  In total, the restaurant can seat 200 guests.  Lee Roy Selmon’s in Carrollwood features an exclusive private dining room that can accommodate up to 30 guests. State of the art sports viewing is available on more than 40 high definition television screens located throughout the restaurant.

New Fall Menu – Sharable Appetizers

Don’t be on the sidelines this fall, get into the game with some new dishes that are sure to keep you warm as the days cool off. As part of its fall menu, Lee Roy Selmon’s is introducing a fresh lineup of sharable appetizers, drinks and a brand-new entree.

The menu includes new delicious starters such as Buffalo Chicken Tenders, Calamari Strips, Meatball Skewers served with a creamy smoked chipotle dipping sauce and warm Soft Pretzels, served with a unique beer cheese sauce. These new appetizers are perfect for sharing with your entire group.

 

 

 

 The newest entree, Chicken and Waffles, is a tribute to Number 63. This dish includes a warm buttermilk Belgian waffle with crispy, sweet heat fried chicken topped with a drizzle of maple syrup and homemade cinnamon pecan butter, served with savory homemade smashed potatoes and creamed corn.

The fall menu is designed to provide Lee Roy Selmon’s customers with the hearty food they expect during this time of the year- so grab your family and friends, and head to your local Lee Roy Selmon’s.

Let’s Eat: Chicken and Waffles

Lee Roy Selmon’s Operating Partner, Greg Stamper in Ft Myers shows viewers how to make our new Chicken and Waffles dish from our Special Edition Legacy Menu.

RECIPE FOR CHICKEN & WAFFLES

  • 6oz Boneless, Skinless Chicken per order cut into strips, all purpose flour and egg wash, beaten eggs and buttermilk together for dredging, cracker breading mix in saltines and all purpose flour together
  • Belgian waffles cut into 2 triangles
  • Smashed Potatoes
  • Maple Bacon Creamed Corn
  • Cinnamon Pecan Butter- cinnamon, brown sugar, crushed pecans, whipped butter
  • Maple Syrup

DIRECTIONS

  • Fry tenders at 350 degrees for about 3-3 1/2 minutes.
  • Place scoop of smashed potatoes on a plate then top with chicken strips, ladle about 3oz of maple bacon creamed corn over chicken.
  • Place 2 Belgian waffles on plate topped with cinnamon pecan butter and maple syrup.

Lee Roy Selmon was a legend on and off the field.  As a mentor to many student-athletes, he was dedicated to helping them recognize and reach their potential. To honor his legacy, Lee Roy Selmon’s restaurants are donating a portion of the proceeds from a special edition menu to support Mentoring U Selmon Style - a program inspired by Lee Roy Selmon that provides a unique opportunity for USF student-athletes to seek mentorship and support from professional experts and leaders.

 

$1 will be donated to Mentoring U Selmon Style for every item ordered from this special edition menu.

Lee Roy Selmon’s Sports Grill Opens in Brandon

On Sunday, September 9th Lee Roy Selmon’s will officially open at 11310 Causeway Blvd. Brandon, FL 33511. The Brandon restaurant features several unique features, including dining in the patio lounge and bar areas in addition to the main restaurant seating section. State of the art sports viewing is available on more than 30 high definition television screens located throughout the restaurant. It’s the perfect environment to gather with family and friends to enjoy great food and great sports with prime viewing both inside and outside. Including the bar and lounge area, the restaurant can accomodate more than 200 guests.

The grand opening on Sunday, September 9th at 11am will coincide with the first Sunday of the NFL season. Lee Roy Selmon’s in Brandon will debut its newest location with fundraising event on Saturday night, September 8, with all proceeds benefiting A Kid’s Place. As part of the Saturday night event, Lee Roy Selmon’s will be honoring several local sports legends who encompass some of the qualities that Lee Roy Selmon embodied with the unveiling of a signature mural at the restaurant. The mural, which will prominently feature Selmon, also includes former Tampa Bay Lightning captain and Stanley Cup winner Dave Andreychuk, former Tampa Bay Buccaneer and Super Bowl Champion, nine-time All Pro lineback Derrick Brooks, former Bucanneer head coach and Super Bowl winning head coach with the Indianapolis Colts, Tony Dungy; and Tampa native and World Series champion Fred McGriff. The mural also recognizes two Brandon legends: Brandon High School Wrestling Coach Russ Cozart and Olympic swimming medalist Martiza Correia.

“We are thrilled to open our newest restaurant in Brandon and look forward to becoming a part of this wonderful community,” said Sam Tancredi, President of Lee Roy Selmon’s. “We know that Brandon is family-driven and our restaurants believe in that mantra as well. We have wanted to expand to Brandon for some time and believe it is a perfect match for us and this area.

Our chef seized the moment of freshness and has created a corn on the cob that will be an explosion of flavor and enhance our summertime sizzling specials. We don’t just steam our fresh Florida corn on the cob, we brush the sweet crunchy kernels with our chipotle mayo adding a subtle back heat, then grill and roll in cotija cheese and sprinkled with fresh chopped parsley- all served hot and fresh on the husk.
